Japanese Giant Seeks Expansion of Business in Pursat

Phnom Penh, 17 July 2024: Sun Chanthol, First Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, met with Yoshihisa Kainuma, General Director of Minebea Mitsumi, and his colleagues to discuss the company's business expansion plans and seek recommendations for facilitating the investment process in Pursat.

During the meeting on the afternoon of July 16, 2024, Mr. Yoshihisa Kainuma expressed gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Council for the Development of Cambodia for their support in the expansion of the company's new factory in Cambodia.

Minebea Mitsumi is investing in Cambodia in the manufacturing of small motors, fans, rotors, machine parts, optical devices for smartphones, electronic devices, vibrators for games, computers, electronic circuits, LED panels, blood glucose monitors, and smart public lighting systems.

In the near future, Minebea Mitsumi plans to open its second factory in Krakor district, Pursat province, which will create numerous job opportunities for Cambodian youth. This new factory will focus on the electricity sector.

According to a statement by Keo Rattanak, Minister of Mines and Energy, on June 19, Minebea Cambodia Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Minebea Mitsumi, will be based in Krakor district, Pursat province. The new factory is expected to generate many new jobs, supporting the local economy.

One of the reasons for Minebea Mitsumi's decision to invest in a second plant in Cambodia is the potential for supporting renewable energy sources. Cambodia has become an attractive destination in the energy sector due to its production of renewable energy.

Minebea Cambodia Co. Ltd has been expanding its operations in Cambodia since 2011. As of 2022, the company operates 14 business units with an investment capital of $614 million, up from an initial investment of $23 million in 2011. The company is also investing in a new special economic zone to enhance its production chain.
